What SIRIM is
For ST-regulated electrical equipment, ST issues the import CoA and SIRIM handles the applicable product testing or certification process. In ST’s published consignment-testing route, CoA is obtained before import; testing follows customs clearance, and the required labels must be in place before sale. Other categories can follow different procedures.
Which goods typically need it
Start with the product type, model, electrical specifications, intended use and existing approvals. A broad label such as “electronics” is not enough to decide the route. The responsible authority and product category determine the requirements; confirm them before the supplier dispatches.
